Lifestyle

A patient’s lifestyle is tracked on three cards in the Lifestyle section of the visit page:

  • Exercise: how many minutes the patient exercised on a given day.
  • Nutrition: the patient’s meals, each with a health score.
  • Sleep: how long and how well the patient slept, with a sleep score.

Each card shows a chart by default, with one point per day in the patient’s time zone. The table button switches it to a table, which lists every entry, and Expand opens a larger view with every column.

Choose Add Exercise to log a session:

  • The date of the session.
  • The minutes it lasted, from 1 to 1440.
  • Optionally, a comment.

The chart shows the total minutes exercised each day. The expanded table also shows each session’s categories and its comments: your organization’s, and the note a patient added to a session they logged, labelled Patient comment.

The Workout column, and the Categories column of the expanded table, show the kind of training, such as cardio or strength. They are filled in for sessions recorded with a workout from the workout catalog, for example from a patient app. The form above has no workout picker, so sessions logged here show Not available and no categories.

Choose Add Nutrition to log a meal:

  • The date and the meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack.
  • Whether the meal included fast food, dessert, alcohol or soda.
  • Optionally, a comment.

Each meal gets a score from 0 to 100. It starts at 100 and loses 25 for each of fast food, dessert, alcohol and soda, so a meal with none of them scores 100 and a meal with all four scores 0. The table lists the flags on each meal; the expanded table adds the score and the comments: your organization’s, and the note a patient added to a meal they logged, labelled Patient comment. The chart shows each day’s average score.

A meal recorded through the API, for example from a patient app, can also list the foods and drinks eaten, each with its food group and number of portions. Each portion of a sweet takes 5 points off the score and each portion of vegetables adds 5, still within 0 to 100. The form above does not list foods, and the table does not show them.

You can see and add a patient’s meals only while the patient shares their lifestyle data with your organization. If they stop sharing, the card is empty and adding a meal fails.

Choose Add Sleep to log a night:

  • The date.
  • Hours of sleep: 3 hours or less, 4-6 hours, or 7+ hours.
  • Sleep quality: well rested or lethargic.
  • Optionally, a comment.

Each night gets a score from 0 to 100:

7+ hours 4-6 hours 3 hours or less
Well rested 100 80 60
Lethargic 50 25 0

The chart shows each day’s average score. The expanded table adds the score and the comments: your organization’s, and the note a patient added to a night they logged, labelled Patient comment.

An entry you add is recorded under your name and your organization, and linked to the visit you add it from. Entries can’t be edited: to correct one, delete it and add it again.

Patients can also log their own exercise, meals and sleep in the patient app. Their entries appear on the same cards.

Any clinician of your organization can delete an entry your organization recorded, whoever added it. Entries the patient logged themselves can only be deleted by the patient, so they have no delete button. An entry that is already gone, for example because a colleague just deleted it, reports that it was not found.

The cards show every entry for the patient, newest first. Turn on Visit only in the visit’s top bar to show only the entries recorded during this visit. On a closed visit the cards always show that visit’s entries only.

The dashboard charts the averages across your organization’s patients for the date range, grouping (day, week or month) and tags you select:

  • Exercise: the average session length, in minutes.
  • Nutrition: the average meal score.
  • Sleep: the average sleep score.

A period with entries from fewer than three different patients has no average, so that small groups are not reported. It is left as a gap in the chart, not drawn as 0, and a note under the chart says so; when every period is hidden this way, the chart shows a message instead. A period with no entries at all is not shown. Both the first and the last day of the selected range are included.

Viewing and adding entries on each card, and seeing each dashboard chart, need the matching permission.

  • Staff see the entries recorded by their own organization, and the entries the patient logged themselves once the patient has also accepted your organization.
  • Patients see every entry about them, from every organization.
