Imaging
Esta página aún no está disponible en tu idioma.
The Imaging screen is your location’s imaging worklist. It lists the imaging studies ordered for patients (X-rays, CT, MRI, ultrasound and so on), follows each from order to report, and is where reports are recorded. Search for a patient to see their full imaging history.
It works the same way as the Laboratories screen. This page covers what is specific to imaging.
How a study moves through its statuses
Section titled “How a study moves through its statuses”| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Unfulfilled | Ordered, not yet performed. |
| Acquired | Performed at your clinic; the report is outstanding. |
| Fulfilled | The report or images are recorded. The study is complete. |
| Will Not Fulfill | Cancelled because the study cannot be performed. |
| No Longer Needed | Cancelled because it is no longer clinically needed. |
Fulfilled and the two cancelled statuses are final. An In Progress status exists in the filters, but no study currently reaches it.
A study cannot be completed empty: it needs a written report (findings or an impression) or at least one attached file.
What the list shows
Section titled “What the list shows”With no patient selected, the list shows studies performed at your current location that are still Acquired: the studies your site owes a report for. Studies that have not been performed yet have no location, so they do not appear here. Use the status filters to include Fulfilled studies.
Searching for a patient switches to that patient’s studies from every location. Turn off All locations to see only the ones performed here.
Each row shows the external ID, the patient (on the location worklist), the order’s title, the Modality and Body Site, the status and the due date. Studies flagged as a critical finding carry a Critical badge, and the Critical filter shows only those.
Filtering by date
Section titled “Filtering by date”Choose which date to filter on: Ordered, Acquired (when the study was performed), Completed, Reported (the date on an outside report) or Due. The location worklist uses Acquired by default and a patient’s history uses Ordered. Dates are read in your own time zone.
Ordering a study
Section titled “Ordering a study”Choose Add Imaging, pick the patient, then choose the study from the imaging catalog. The catalog entry sets the modality and body site, which cannot be changed afterwards. To study something else, cancel the order and place a new one. Set the Laterality (left, right, both or not applicable) and whether Contrast will be used, then give the order a Title, a due date, and optionally a description, external ID and Notes. The notes are saved as your comment on the order and shown in its details.
Working a study
Section titled “Working a study”Open the menu at the end of a row. Only the actions that apply to the study’s current status are offered.
View Details shows everything recorded on the study, including the report and its attachments. Files and links can be added from here.
Record Acquisition (Unfulfilled studies) records that the study was performed at your current location, with optional acquisition notes.
Submit Report (Acquired studies) records the radiologist’s report:
- Findings: what was observed.
- Impression: the diagnostic conclusion.
- Technique: views, sequences, contrast protocol.
- Comparison: prior studies compared with.
- Critical finding: tick this when the study shows something that needs acting on now. The patient’s care team is alerted immediately.
You can attach the images or the report document in the same step. A report needs findings, an impression, or at least one attachment. The study becomes Fulfilled, and you are recorded as the reading radiologist unless you name an outside one. The Report date is when the report was issued. It can be in the past, for a report entered after the fact, but not in the future. A report carries no notes of its own: the study keeps the notes it was ordered with, and the patient’s own note is theirs to write.
Force Complete (Acquired studies) closes a study whose images or report are already attached but that will get no written report. A study with nothing recorded cannot be force-completed; cancel it instead.
Cancel Study (any study not yet Fulfilled) closes the study without a result, as Will Not Fulfill or No Longer Needed.
The cancel form requires a reason. It is saved in the study’s history along with who cancelled it and when. The history is not shown on this screen yet, but it is available through the API.
Studies from outside facilities
Section titled “Studies from outside facilities”When a patient brings a study from another facility, choose Add External Study. Pick the patient and the study, name the Facility (required) and, if known, the outside radiologist, and record the report or attach the images. The study is created Fulfilled and marked external. Caregiver Comment is saved as your comment on the new study.
Attachments
Section titled “Attachments”A study can carry the images (including DICOM files and ZIP archives from another system), the report document, or a link to the study in an outside viewer. Files can be up to 100 MB each. Attachments can be added until a study is cancelled.
Anyone who can see a study can open and download all of its attachments, whoever added them.
Removing an attachment hides it from the study but keeps it in the patient’s clinical record. You cannot remove the last attachment of a fulfilled study that has no written report, because the study would be left with no result. Add the replacement first. You can remove only attachments added by your own organization, so Remove appears only on those. Files the patient or another organization added cannot be removed.
Studies patients report themselves
Section titled “Studies patients report themselves”Patients can record imaging done elsewhere from their own app, as a photo or file of the report. They cannot write a report or flag a critical finding. These studies appear marked external, with no ordering organization, and you can see them only once the patient has fully accepted your organization. You can add files and links to them from View Details, as on any other study.
If your clinic ordered a study and the patient had it performed elsewhere, the patient can attach the result to your order while it is still Unfulfilled. The study then moves straight to Fulfilled. Until then they can also add files to the order without completing it.
Reporting the result is the only change a patient can make to your order. They cannot edit, reschedule, cancel, complete or delete it, they cannot add files to it once your clinic has acquired or completed it, and they cannot see its history. Patients cannot remove files, including their own.
Who sees what
Section titled “Who sees what”Your organization needs the Base Essentials licence to use imaging. Opening this screen needs a role that allows viewing imaging. Ordering, recording acquisition, submitting reports, completing, cancelling and managing attachments need a role that allows managing imaging. Other colleagues see the same list with only View Details in each row’s menu.
A performed study stays with the location it was performed at. You can record an acquisition only at a location you are assigned to, and once it is acquired, only staff assigned to that location can report, complete or cancel it. Everyone with the viewing permission can still see it.
If your role lets you see only the patients you follow, the list holds only their studies, not every patient’s in your organization. A patient who has asked you to follow them counts only once the request is accepted.
